About Me
It Started in a Garage
From there, I started helping out with Mayfest, a music festival held every mid-May in Remus, about twenty minutes northwest of Mt. Pleasant. I spent two years on the Mayfest team as a DJ and production assistant before joining Mayfest LLC as a part owner. I've DJed the festival every year since, and this past year was our best one yet.
After my second year of DJing Mayfest, my son's best friend asked me to DJ his wedding. I was glad to help out, and once I was actually doing it, I realized how much I enjoyed the format. The vibe is different from a festival, but the part I care about most is the same. Making sure people were vibing to the music and watching them as they dance and enjoy the set. I decided to start booking weddings on purpose, and other events alongside them: holiday parties, class reunions, milestone celebrations.
From Festival Stages to Wedding Receptions
But the underlying skill is the same. Reading a crowd is reading a crowd. Sensing when the floor wants more energy, when it needs a breather, when a guest walks over to the bar and the next song should pull them back, that's the part of the job I care about, and it's the part festivals taught me first.
I bring the same instinct to receptions, scaled to the room.
The planning side carries over too. Whether it's coordinating vendors, managing timelines, adapting to last-minute changes, or making sure every detail lands where it should, successful events are built on preparation long before the music starts.
Why I Have Upfront Pricing
Many DJs prefer to discuss pricing only after an inquiry, but I've chosen a different approach. I believe pricing is an important part of the decision-making process, and couples shouldn't have to schedule a call or send an email just to find out whether a service fits their budget.
Planning a wedding involves countless decisions, timelines, and expenses. My goal is to make at least one part of that process simple and stress-free. By being transparent about pricing from the start, you can quickly determine whether I'm a good fit and spend your time focusing on the details that matter most for your celebration.
No surprises, no sales pressure, and no guessing. Just clear information so you can make the best decision for your wedding. How I Work
A few things I commit to with every couple. None of them are unusual to promise. They're worth saying out loud because not every operator follows through.
You get me. I don't substitute DJs. If you book me, I'm the person at your wedding or event.
One event per weekend. I keep my schedule deliberately light so every couple gets real planning time between booking and the day itself.
Transparent pricing. What's in the contract is what you pay. Travel beyond my standard area gets quoted up front, before anything is signed.
The timeline matters. An event that flows well doesn't happen by accident. I work through the music timeline with you in detail, then coordinate with your photographer and officiant on the day.
Past that, my approach is pretty simple: clean sound, the right music for the room, and a setup that disappears so the night is about the people, not the DJ.
Where I work
I'm based in central Michigan, with Mt. Pleasant as the natural center of my service area. I cover the surrounding region, Isabella, Mecosta, and the small towns in between without a travel fee, but I am also happy to travel. For events further out, including Grand Rapids, Saginaw, Bay City, Kalkaska, and all Michigan, I quote travel costs up front.
